Meet Rebecca Ward Knowlton. I ran across these photos in a distant cousin’s tree on Ancestry.com. Rebecca is 2X great grandmother to my generation of cousins.
She was born August 15, 1822, in Advocate Harbour, Nova Scotia, to Joshua Ward (1787-1861) and Dorothy (“Dolly”) Morris (1792-1877). Rebecca married Asa Knowlton (1806-1875) in 1844 and had eleven children, including our great grandmother, Alberta V. Knowlton, the wife of Thomas Houston Shaw. They were farmers. She died in Nova Scotia on March 27, 1912. I am not sure who the man and two women are, but I believe the women may be two of her daughters, Agnes Pamelia Knowlton (1844-1921) and Sabra (or Sadie) Knowlton (1848-1921). Maybe there is a resemblance to Uncle Tom Jones in Rebecca’s prominent jawline?

Bonnie EastonHi! I am a Jones cousin, daughter of Evelyn Jones Easton. Since retiring as a reference librarian after 20 years, I have become a genealogy addict. Our ancestors want to tell us their stories.
